On behalf of Quilt 2 End ALZ, I am thrilled to launch the Paving Petals Quilt pattern!
It is a stunning pattern designed by Q2EA board member, our in-house media guru, and professional designer Clara Warner and kicks off a collaborative initiative we are working on to partner with quilt designers all around the world.
I’m not merely a biased aunt when I say that Clara is a very talented designer, and although a fairly new quilter, she often lays out her own quilt designs. Each and every one of her projects have been stunningly beautiful!
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit and quarantining pressed the pause button on my roadshow goals for 2020, I wanted to find a way to stay engaged with our community of quilters, Alzheimer’s advocates, and friends, so I asked Clara to pick her favorite “design in progress” that we could turn in to a pattern.
She delivered!
Inspired by Parisian paving stones, the Paving Petals quilt pattern is a block-based design that layers bold flowers over an interesting tricolor background design.
The pattern is available as both a printed product and as a digital download; it includes fabric requirements, cutting instructions, step-by-step sewing instructions, helpful diagrams, and a coloring page to help plan your quilt. The piecing is perfect for all skill and experience levels.

For our sample quilt, Clara selected a gorgeous collection of fabrics from the Riley Blake Designs “Petals & Pots” line:
The sample turned out so well, that we ordered enough fabric to create a limited number of quilt kits to also sell in our shop!
The kit includes the printed pattern and all the fabric you need to piece the topper. A backing set is available as an add-on, or you can always pick out something else that strikes your fancy.

In addition to making our own sample, we reached out to a handful of quilters whom we love to follow on social media and asked them to help us test our pattern.
They were fabulously helpful, and their feedback was invaluable in the final instructions! Their projects turned out phenomenally, too:

I know you will love making this quilt as much as I did – it sews together brilliantly!
The finished size (62” x 82”) is a perfect Sofa Snuggler for cuddling with your favorite people and the bright summer colors of coral pink, deep navy, metallic gold, mustard yellow, and peaceful, sky blue are vivid and coordinate wonderfully.
And as always, 80% of the proceeds of every purchase go towards ending Alzheimer’s disease.
